Fighting Hunger

The FOOD BANK

The Giving Garden

Oct 30 - This is a special update regarding our Food Bank. We are already seeing a significant increase in numbers we serve. With so much happening with assistance programs, we expect this trend to continue to put a strain on our operation. Please help us with donated food items (see list below) or a financial contribution.
Our Food Bank, a cornerstone of our community outreach, provides essential support to Laurens County residents facing food insecurity. Open every Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 2 pm, we offer a full bag of groceries to each client once a month, ensuring families have the resources they need to put food on their tables. This vital ministry is made possible through the generous support of our church, numerous area churches, local businesses, and dedicated organizations. We welcome and encourage community involvement, as even a simple canned food drive by a class, business, or club can make a significant impact. We maintain a specific list of needed non-perishable items to ensure we stock the most helpful provisions.
Our Giving Garden is a testament to the power of community and the abundance of God's blessings. This vibrant garden is lovingly tended by a dedicated group of volunteers from several local churches, who share a passion for gardening and a desire to serve others. Together, they cultivate a bountiful harvest of fresh vegetables, nurturing each plant with care and attention. The fruits of their labor are generously shared with those in need, with fresh produce distributed to our Food Bank Ministry, local nursing homes, and other food pantries. Through the Giving Garden, we are not only providing nourishing food but also fostering a sense of community and demonstrating the transformative power of compassion and service. The Giving Garden is a true reflection of God's goodness, reminding us that even in the simplest acts of kindness, we can make a profound difference in the lives of others.

Weekend Backpacks

Our Weekend Backpack Ministry is a beacon of hope for children in need, providing essential nourishment and a sense of security during the weekend. This vital ministry is made possible by the unwavering dedication of volunteers from several area churches who come together each week during the school year to assemble backpacks filled with nutritious food. These backpacks are distributed to 60 children identified by a local elementary school as facing food insecurity. By providing these children with a weekend supply of food, we ensure that they have access to the nourishment they need to thrive, both physically and academically. The Weekend Backpack Ministry is a powerful testament to the transformative impact of compassion and collaboration. Through this essential service, we are not only alleviating hunger but also fostering a sense of community and hope for a brighter future.
